What is your favourite part of working as a Senior Move Manager?

Seeing the difference I can make to each client; whether it's removing the worry of how to decide what to keep, being a hands on support sorting through cupboards or being an emotional support when there are worries or sadness at leaving a home of memories.

What part of your work do you find the hardest?

Saying "goodbye" to a client at the end of their move journey. I often want to adopt them but sadly time commitments mean that I rarely have time to keep in touch. I have popped in to say "hello" to several when moving another client to the same location and it's heart warming to see how settled they are in their new home and what friends they've made.

What did you do before becoming a Senior Move Manager?

I was a Civil Servant for 28 years

What misconceptions do people have about our work?

That we'll make them throw everything away! I had a client once who hadn't slept all night before my visit so now, when I first contact a client, I reassure them that isn't something that I do.

If you get a free moment, what do you do to unwind?

I recreated my garden last year after moving in 2020 and it's my oasis of calm. I love to potter, add new plants and watch the birds and squirrels. Last year I had hedgehogs too!

What is the most unique request you have dealt with for a client and how did you do so?

A lady didn't want to entrust her husband's ashes to the removal firm but as we'd built a good relationship she trusted me, so I took responsibility for "Harry" and took him home with me and then to his new home the following day (move day).
