What is your favourite part of working as a Senior Move Manager?

Totally the people.  And solving problems, coming in at Number 2.  I love meeting new people – hearing their stories and learning from them.  It is also very rewarding to solve problems and support my clients through, what is to them, an overwhelming and vulnerable season.

What part of your work do you find the hardest?

The physical challenge is sometimes tough!  Staying one step ahead of the client, removal team and boxes keeps you hopping.  A gym membership along with a merciless personal trainer ensures I can lift those boxes and keep moving for hours.

What did you do before becoming a Senior Move Manager?

Looking back I have a very mosaic-like career that has this common thread throughout: supporting people. I started in corporate training and development, HR executive, then moved to teaching, raised a family,  home educated my children, and there was a stint as a guitar teacher. When emigrating to the UK in 2019, I discovered professional organising and have been self-employed since then – and loving it.

What misconceptions do people have about our work?

Not so much about the job itself, but I think many people automatically assume that ‘seniors’ are just old people, and forget that they have often held down incredible jobs and have lived fascinating lives. I love listening to their stories and life experiences and actively encourage them to reminisce . They are often full of wisdom and good advice.

If you get a free moment, what do you do to unwind?

Getting lost in a good book, spending time with my family and painting are my special treats.

What is the most unique request you have dealt with for a client and how did you do so?

While assisting with a client’s paperwork the request to do a hair trim suddenly cropped up.  The client said, “I just don’t have time right now and it’s just a tiny trim at the back.” Needless to say, I kindly declined but found the services of an at-home hairdresser.
